It was set up as a joint undertaking between Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd and RIICO (Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation), a Government of Rajasthan agency, and was inaugurated in 2007 by then Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
The township is organised into two main components: a Multi-Sector Special Economic Zone spread across 1500 acres, covering IT/ITES, engineering, handicrafts and apparel sectors, and a Domestic Tariff Area spread over 1000 acres for residential and retail development.
