Mahindra World City Chennai is a landmark integrated township established in 2002 as a public-private partnership. Mahindra World City Township Chennai has been established in year 2002, and it is India's first integrated business city and corporate India's first operational SEZ, promoted by the Mahindra Group in partnership with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), spanning over 1,500 acres.

The township is planned as a green, self-sustaining city that blends work and living. Mahindra World City Chennai in Chengalpattu is an Integrated Township surrounded by 7 lakes, with the initial IGBC Gold (Stage 1) certified Green Township Master plan built to connect living and working. The master plan is organised into distinct zones, including a Multi Sector SEZ, a Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), dedicated residential blocks, various commercial establishments and essential utilities, with large green spaces and natural water bodies such as Thenmelpakkam Lake, Kannavakkam Lake and the Thiruvathavur Reserve Forest integrated throughout.
