A New Benchmark in Sustainable Living
Mahindra Eden marks the launch of India's first net zero energy residential project, developed by Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. and certified by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), on Kanakapura Road in South Bengaluru. The project's design features are together expected to save over 18 lakh kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to powering over 800 homes, with the remaining energy demand met through on-site solar and wind systems along with purchased green energy.
Spread across 7.74 acres with more than 85% open space, Mahindra Eden is built with climate-responsive strategies such as optimal building orientation, SRI paints for heat reflectivity, high-performance glass, and energy-efficient lighting. These measures also help reduce water demand by 74% compared to conventional buildings, alongside waste segregation, composting and a resource recovery centre that make it a zero e-waste project.
The development is being delivered in phases across four towers (A, B, C and D), with Phase 1 comprising 277 units across 1, 2 and 3 BHK layouts and Phase 2 adding further 1, 2 and 3 BHK homes. In all, the project is planned to offer 531 residences spread over unit sizes ranging from roughly 400 sq ft to over 2,000 sq ft.
Beyond energy efficiency, Mahindra Eden is designed to be nature-positive, preserving and nurturing over 100 species of plants, more than 25 species of birds and over 25 species of butterflies, with dedicated efforts to naturalise and streamline water bodies within the project.
