About Eliambedu
Eliambedu is a village in the Ponneri taluk of Thiruvallur district, sitting just north of Chennai on the NH-16 corridor. It is located 47 KM towards East from District head quarters Tiruvallur and 34 KM from State capital Chennai. Its location along the Golden Quadrilateral has made it one of the most talked-about industrial addresses in the state.
The locality is best known as the home of Origins by Mahindra, a large-format industrial cluster. Spanning 307 acres, Origins by Mahindra has become a preferred industrial hub for renowned Japanese and Taiwanese enterprises. Notable companies such as Yanmar Engine Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd., Nissei Electric India Pvt. Ltd., USUI Susira International Pvt. Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric, OMRON Healthcare, Track Designs India Pvt. have set up operations here, and the park has earned recognition as the first industrial cluster in Tamil Nadu to be awarded the prestigious IGBC Green Cities Platinum rating.
The momentum at Eliambedu picked up sharply in early 2024, when Mahindra World City Developers Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu to enable and facilitate investments in excess of INR 1000 Crore over the next five years, expected to generate employment for more than 2000 people in the state. This expansion is built around the launch of Origins by Mahindra Phase II at Eliambedu itself.
For daily conveniences, residents and workers rely on the neighbouring town of Ponneri, roughly a 15-30 minute drive away. PMS Hospital, Thangam Hospital, Jeyam Multi Speciality Hospitals are the prominent hospitals situated in and around Ponneri, while Unity Matriculation & Modern Matriculation schools are within 1km of the town centre, giving the wider Eliambedu-Ponneri belt a growing base of social infrastructure to support its industrial expansion.
